Everyone loves a bargain. Even it is advisable to keep costs down. On the other hand, can be so cheap that you cut your own throat.
Here are two ways to register a domain name for free and some reasons why you might not want.
1. You must have your own top level domain (TLD) Name
Web Your company should have its own top level domain (TLD) name. This means that a name like yourcompany.com. This does not mean a subdomain of the domain name of another person, as yourcompany.someisp.net.
People sometimes hesitate to register a proper domain name because of its cost, lack of knowledge, or indecision. However, paying the minimum fee charged by the domain registrar for your domain name can reap rich dividends.
A uniform resource locator (URL) or Internet address like (ignoring the http) someisp.net / hosting, accounts / yourco / or yourcompany.someisp.net, just does not look as professional as yourcompany.com. You can be free (as in included in your web space) but simply not enough.
Consider this: If you put your address on your stationery, business cards, posters, etc., that the Internet address looks more professional?
If you mention the URL in your advertising on the radio or a client by phone, what is more memorable?
Furthermore, what if your web host goes out of business or decide that you want to switch to other provider. Now, you must notify all persons who have changed yourcompany.someotherisp.net. You also have to change all your stationery, signs and advertising to reflect the change.
Moreover, the yourcompany. com domain name could be transferred from one web host to another simply to inform your registrar of domain names change.
So, to avoid losing business and incurring unnecessary additional costs, be sure to have your own domain name level.
